Talk

Benicia Insight Meditation

Feb 2, 2026

Teacher-Led Sangha with Walt Opie (in-person teaching)

The Buddha offered five themes he encouraged us to reflect on frequently. They can sound a bit grim if we aren’t used to thinking about them, but in truth they are powerful reminders about the nature of what it’s like to be human. These five reflections are (in brief): “I am subject to old age; I am subject to illness; I am subject to death; I must be parted and separated from everyone and everything dear and agreeable to me; (and) I am the heir of my karma.” In this talk, we will explore these five themes and see how it could benefit us to incorporate them into our meditation practice.

The structure of this gathering is a 30-minute meditation, followed by a 20-minute tea and social period, concluding with a dharma talk (teachings) and Q and A

Please note that because this is an in-person teaching there is no zoom access.
